Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Jazagora processes, why it is needed, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights available to you.
1. Data controller
The controller responsible for the processing described in this policy is:
Luca Costantini
Rome, Italy
Email: [email protected]
Jazagora is currently operated privately and is not presented as a company. If its legal structure changes, this notice will be updated.
2. About Jazagora
Jazagora is a discovery platform that aggregates information about jazz events and venues in Italy, offers a directory of jazz publications from around the world and provides access to jazz radio streams from international broadcasters.
Most of the app is available without registration. Registration is optional and is used only for account-based features such as favourites, venue reviews and, when enabled by the user, optional email communications.
3. Personal data we process

|---|---|---|
| Account data | Name or display name, email address, Firebase user identifier, email-verification status and authentication information. | When you register or sign in. |
| Google Sign-In data | Basic account information returned by Google, such as name, email, account identifier and, if provided, profile image. | When you choose “Continue with Google”. Jazagora does not receive your Google password. |
| Favourites | Identifiers of venues, events, radio stations and publications you save, together with creation timestamps. | When a signed-in user saves or removes an item. |
| Reviews | Venue, star rating, review text, display name, user identifier and timestamps. | When a signed-in user publishes, edits or removes a review. Reviews and display names are visible to other users. |
| Communication choices | Email address, whether communications are enabled, consent date, last change and policy version. | Only if you actively enable optional communications. |
| Technical data | Authentication tokens, security events, basic device/network information and error information generated by service infrastructure. | Automatically when needed to operate, secure or troubleshoot the service. |
| Local app preferences | Language, light/dark theme and locally stored session information. | Stored on your device to remember your choices. |
| Support communications | Your email address and the content of messages sent to support. | When you contact us. |
Jazagora does not ask for payment-card data and does not intentionally collect special-category data such as health, biometric, political or religious information. Please do not include sensitive personal information in reviews or support requests.
4. Purposes and legal bases
- Provide your account and requested features: authentication, favourites, reviews, account recovery and deletion. Legal basis: performance of the service requested by you.
- Display user reviews: publish, edit and remove content you choose to submit. Legal basis: performance of the service and our legitimate interest in operating a useful jazz community.
- Protect and improve the service: prevent abuse, diagnose failures, enforce rules and maintain security. Legal basis: legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable service.
- Respond to support and rights requests: handle questions, deletion requests and legal obligations. Legal basis: performance of requested support, legal obligations and legitimate interests.
- Send optional news and promotions: only after a separate affirmative choice. Legal basis: consent, which may be withdrawn at any time.
5. Optional email communications
If you choose to enable communications, Jazagora may use your email address to send product updates, jazz news, newsletters, promotions and possible discount codes for dinners, concerts or partner initiatives.
This choice is entirely optional, is not required to create or use an account, and must not be preselected. You can switch it on or off at any time in the app’s profile settings when the feature is available, or use the unsubscribe method included in each promotional email.
Withdrawing consent stops future promotional communications. It does not affect processing already carried out lawfully before withdrawal. Jazagora may retain a minimal record of consent or withdrawal where necessary to demonstrate compliance and honour your choice.
Transactional or security messages—such as email verification, password reset, account deletion or important service notices—are not promotional communications and may still be sent when necessary.
6. Radio Live and third-party streams
The Radio Live section allows users to access online radio streams made publicly available by the respective broadcasters or rights holders.
Jazagora does not host, record, modify or directly retransmit audio content. Streams are played through a technical connection to public URLs provided or made available by the individual radio stations.
When your device connects to a stream, the broadcaster, its hosting provider or content-delivery network may receive technical information such as your IP address, request time and device or player information. Those third parties process data under their own privacy notices, and Jazagora does not control their processing.
Audio content, schedules, station names, trademarks and related rights remain the property and responsibility of their respective owners. Requests concerning a listed stream may be sent to [email protected].
7. Catalogue information and sources
Event information is collected from public jazz-related sources using Jazagora Daily Oracle, an automated aggregation workflow. Public event information may include title, date, venue, city, a short description, image and source or booking links. This catalogue information is not collected from registered Jazagora users.
Venue information is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, which is Jazagora’s technical database rather than the original source. Venue records may contain public business details obtained from official venue websites, organisers and other publicly available business sources, including name, address, website, contact details, coordinates and descriptions.
The Magazine section is a directory of independent jazz publications and editorial websites. Jazagora identifies each publication and links to its website; it does not host the publisher’s articles. Opening a publication, map, booking page, venue website or other external resource may allow that third party to process technical information under its own privacy notice.
Source categories, attribution principles and principal event sources are described on the Sources & Attribution page. When available, individual listings also link directly to the original source.
If public event, venue or publication information includes personal data and you wish to request a correction or removal, contact [email protected] and identify the relevant listing.
8. Service providers and international transfers
Jazagora uses Google services, including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, to authenticate users and store account-related data. Google acts as a service provider for these functions. Google Sign-In is used only when selected by the user.
Data may be processed in countries outside Italy or the European Economic Area where a provider operates. Where required, transfers are handled under applicable safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. For more information, see Google’s and Firebase’s published privacy and data-processing documentation.
If an email-delivery provider is introduced for optional communications, this policy will be updated before or when that provider begins processing subscriber data.
Jazagora does not sell personal data.
9. Data retention
- Account data and favourites: retained while the account remains active and removed when the account is deleted, subject to limited legal or technical exceptions.
- Reviews: retained until you remove them, your account is deleted, moderation requires removal, or retention is otherwise no longer necessary. Residual copies may remain temporarily in backups.
- Communication preferences: used until consent is withdrawn or the account is deleted. A minimal suppression or consent record may be retained where needed to demonstrate and respect your choice.
- Support messages and rights requests: retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and document compliance.
- Security and infrastructure logs: retained according to operational security needs and the applicable provider settings.
10. Your data-protection rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or objection to processing. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
Send requests to [email protected]. We may request reasonable information to verify your identity. Requests are handled without undue delay and generally within one month, subject to lawful extensions or exceptions.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) or the supervisory authority in your country of residence.
11. Age requirement
Account registration and optional promotional communications are intended only for users aged 16 or older. People under 16 may browse publicly available content but must not create an account or provide personal data through Jazagora.
12. Security
Jazagora uses reasonable technical and organisational measures, including authenticated access and database security rules, to protect account data. No online service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or personal data may have been compromised, contact us promptly.
13. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app, its providers or legal requirements change. The effective date will be revised, and material changes may be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.
